If the Contacts were case sensitive you could save the email address from a Google Voice message sent to you and use that message to send text messages to that person.
The problem is: When you save a Google Voice email address to the Contacts on your Peek, the Peek converts the entire email address to lower case in the Contacts when saving it.
This would require new firmware as current themes are built into the firmware and have a fixed layout. (colors and icons can be changed when building a new firmware, but the positioning, etc is all rigid from what I've been told in the past)
This has been an issue since day 1. It's not that bad really; even the BlackBerries I've played with don't allow you to use the quoted portion for replies.
That would be nice, but it reall isn't very possible at the moment. In order to text a 5-digit number, your phone company makes an agreement with the company whose 5-digit number you would be texting...
I just called them at 1 (877) 677-PEEK
and told the that I, as a new customer (today) am not happy at all with the advertising or signature and told them since I have a month to return the device, I will if they don't take care of it.
We all need to call them.
To foxmajik: I suppose you should count yourself lucky that your employer doesn't require/expect a signature that appears pompous. Some of us not-so-lucky folks would still like the Peek to work for us. At least at universities, it is expected that signatures include address and other contact information (of course that is not to say that doing so doesn't appear pompous, but that seems really irrelevant to the point of my request, since deleting/re-entering the account at all is an unnecessary annoyance and causes delays in receiving email, even with no signature).
Peek doesn't use Linux as its OS, it uses an embedded microkernel. Also, Flash is resource hungry. Having a browser would defeat the purpose of the Peek as an email only device.
You should reduce the size of your signature. Honestly, no one wants to see your huge signature. If it's more than a couple of lines you're doing too much and it makes you look pompous as well as wasting resources.
This is actually already possible (the custom sounds), but it takes a little hacking skill :-D Check out the forums and you might be able to find someone to help you do it.
Add apps, etc. etc. and it is no longer a $20 device. Keep it simple, keep it cheap Peek! The iPhone and Blackberry and the like already exist. The Peek is not for everyone. If it becomes the next Blackberry, it also becomes priced out of the range of the original target market. My 2c.
XMPP is probably still too few use cases to justify support.
Not enough grandmas and artists know how to use XMPP to justify the cost of implementing it.

This feature already exists. Hold the shift key and scroll to select multiple items.
The ability to skin the peek would be a major plus in my book. I know its a simple upgrade, but one I think a lot of users would really enjoy
two words...
Google voice

I support this as long as there is XMPP support as well.
Some servers have the XMPP to AIM, etc transports so you could be killing two birds with one stone, if you found a way to manage it via UI.

Having a chose between advanced and simple mode could be nice.

You are not providing a free service.
Please remove that peek signature ASAP.
Great idea!
I doubt this will ever happen. The Locosto chipset really doesn't have the capacity to facilitate multimedia functions.
The icons need to be big, obvious and ever present or some people will get confused. Think about your grandmother using the Peek.

This has been implemented. Use the "update your status" item on the Peek menu to update your Facebook status.

SSH requires a lot of processing power relative to the Peek's intended functionality because of the encryption.

I Agree
i would love IM on peek
Good idea... That always annoys me.
