Add apps, etc. etc. and it is no longer a $20 device. Keep it simple, keep it cheap Peek! The iPhone and Blackberry and the like already exist. The Peek is not for everyone. If it becomes the next Blackberry, it also becomes priced out of the range of the original target market. My 2c.

The Peek should have Apps, like a calculator, calender, and phone book. It would make the device even more important to carry with you. And offline functionality is important. Not everyone want's to connect online for email. Let people buy the $20 device, and use the apps offline. Then, when their ready, people can subscribe to the monthly service.

Can't agree more - I don't have service at my house, and not being able to make use of the device in this environment really irks me.
It would be great to use some other tools on it so it's not useless when i'm at home.

Widgets would be cool. Like the iPod Touch, iPhone, and Samsung P3.

there is no leverage in reinventing the wheel.
how about some level of support for either yahoo or google calendar/tasks/notes instead -
I have a pet grooming business and I am the promotional manager for a fast growing sports business. I bought the Peek so I can text and email by boss in the sports business while keeping an eye on my emails from my pet clients, thinking that I would be able to schedule my grooms, meetings etc. on it. No calender. Not sure what I am going to do. Return it and get a Pda? If it is possible to downlaod a calender it would be the answere to all of my problems.

That is why I purchased the device...for calendar use. It doesnt have it like I thought it might, so I am returning it! If it had what I wanted I would keep it.

Having a few more personal information managment type apps would be very awesome. if someone sends you an ical or other calander file, it could go in a calendar app for example. This would help organize my family a little better.

This idea is fantastic. I really love my Peek, but I would love to have some basic apps on it. I don't make too many calls with my cell, so being able to check my calendar, and have an alarm clock would be awesome, since I would not carry my cell, but instead carry my Peek.
